The Sheringham and District Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) have recently acquired a new banner. It isn’t called a “Standard” as it was not presented by royalty.
Chairman of the branch, Kenneth Macnish thanked the generosity of RAF Marham’s heritage fund.
Chairman Macnish added “Our RAFA Liaison Officer is Warrant Officer Steve Roberts, the station Warrant Officer at RAF Marham, who is also the Chairman of the Heritage Fund”
Having received the banner in August, it’s official presentation and dedication was held at an annual Battle of Britain service at St Andrews Methodist Church on Sunday 6th of September 2015.
The sevice was led by Reverend Arthur Windridge who, several years ago, had been a Service Padre at Marham.
The new banner was presented by Branch President, Air Commodore Tom Benson, as Warrant Officer Roberts was unable to attend the Service.
It was agreed to repeat that part at a later date, when WO Roberts would do the presentation.
The latter presentation took place on Friday the 16th of October 2015 at 3.00pm in front of the District Council’s new sculpture, “Poppies in Steel”
