Dozens of people gathered for the first casting call of Lionel Bart’s well-loved musical, ‘Oliver’ Based on Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist, it’s one of the most successful musicals of all time.
The production will be directed by Amanda Howell and musically directed by Rosamund Walton. The musical takes to the stage at Cromer Pavilion to celebrate Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society’s Centenary production.
The musical comedy and drama, packed with wonderful songs and backed by a full orchestra with professional sets and costumes, we will play to well over 4,000 people during the May Bank Holiday week next year.
One of many memorable characters in the novel is, Fagin, grotesque to look at and the leader of a group of children, the Artful Dodger and Charley Bates among them, whom he teaches to make their livings by pick pocketing and other criminal activities in exchange for a roof over their heads.
